ON THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON OF 21st JAN 2022, BERESTA SERVED IT’S FIRST MEAL! SINCE THEN, WE’VE COME A LONG WAY…
The word ‘Beresta’ comes from the Persian word ‘Beriyan’ which means ‘deep fried’ or ‘roasted’. Beresta is a name given to the crispy golden fried onions which form an integral part of Indian & Mughlai cooking. An authentic Dum Biriyani or a Korma gravy is incomplete without layers of Beresta onion. We believe this name truly reflects our love for Indian cuisine and the passion to present it to the world!
We, the founders of Beresta are 90s Kids – we grew up in India in the 90s and just like any other region during that time, going out for dinner with family on a weekend was something we really looked forward to. It wasn’t just the food – it was everything else surrounding the food. The ambiance, that one favourite table, that one familiar server, that one specific favourite dish cooked just for you out-of-themenu… the ambient music being played from the radio or cassette player… we never really worried about the air conditioners or sanitizers back then…we just enjoyed our time with family, eating our favourite food in our favourite restaurants. It was fascinating!
When the pandemic of 2020 cast a shadow of doubt on the prospect of dining out at restaurants and favored home deliveries instead, we wanted to bring back that classic ‘dine-out’ experience which brings people together over food! And we knew for a fact that if we were to encourage people to come and dine with us, we had to recreate Nostalgia not just with food, but the whole experience. We had to design a space that felt warm, yet modern… a team that was friendly, yet professional and food that felt authentic, yet refreshing.
Beresta was created from this idea – and passion! A passion for food, a passion for design and a passion to create a beautiful space where a talented, energetic and happy team works together to craft unforgettable dining experiences for food lovers from across the globe.
Every element at Beresta – the space, the furniture, the logo, the colors, the cutlery, the lights and the food… reflects our thought process which started with the objective of bringing back the Nostalgia of dining-out with family and friends. Thousands of happy customers later, we think we’ve been able to create exactly that.
